Here at Mt Vernon we are involved in many different types of missions. Locally we have a Food Closet and Clothing Closet Ministry, a HandyMan Ministry, and each month we have a Men's and Women's Prayer Breakfast.
Also every quarter we send a group to help out at the New Beginning’s Soup Kitchen which serves around 400 meals every Wednesday in the month at our Green River Baptist Associations’ headquarters. Since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf, we have had 4 different trips to the area to help out.
In 2006 our church adopted Christian Fellowship Cathedral in New Orleans and have sent monetary donations and helped the church by re-carpeting the sanctuary.
Each Christmas we support Samaritan’s Purse with “Operation Christmas Child.” We have many different ways for someone to get involved in missions here at Mt Vernon!!
In 2009 our Men's Handyman Ministry took a group of men to Pennsylvania and worked for a week at Harvest House Coummunity Fellowship, a local Baptist Church in Towanda, Pa.
